It's after noon somewhere, right? Well it's 12 noon here in Granville, MI where we're having our first taste of the day at Osgood Brewing. But before we talk about Osgood, I need to do a little catching up from Friday and Saturday. We got into Cincinnati around 3:30 Friday and made a real quick stop at Madtree. They had an open air tap room and it was 93 that day so it was a little warm in there. The sampler had their Johnny 5 session IPA, Psychopthy IPA, Dreamsicle Kolch and Identity Crisis hoppy stout. Yes, really. A hoppy stout. This really was a pleasant mix of mild coffee flavor and hop bitterness. Terri doesn't like coffee, but thought this was pretty good. It would definitely be a one pint and done brew, but very interesting. The Dreamsicle was also really good. It was a kolch with orange peel and vanilla - it really tasted like a creamsicle! :-) Spelling on "creamsicle" ?? Whatever, you know what I mean. It would be a great sipping beer for a hot day. If we could have stayed longer, we'd have gotten a pint.
They had a great delivery truck, too!
From Madtree we met my cousins Jay & Trent, niece Amanda and their SO's at the 50 West Brewery. We did a full sampler - the IPA, Doom Pedal white IPA, Little Miami Weisse (as in the Miami River and Miami Vice :-) Rainbow Road session IPA, Roam Pale Ale and the Highway to Hemp Pale Ale. For full disclosure I gotta say we did more visiting than beer analysis, but the Roam was really good. And we left with a growler of the Little Miami Weisse. They had a nice patio with unique seating...
But it was 93 degrees, so we sat inside :-) here's a shot of our sampler rack which my cousin Jay originally thought contained larger glasses of beer and was concerned about our hour drive to my dads that evening. He grinned when I held up a communion cup sized taster and pretended to be drunk :-)
